Delicate and bold. Unconventional and versatile.
A project inaugurated in January 2024 by Tremend Design and Investment Office. The Tremend architecture studio from Warsaw and the QLAB lighting design studio from Katowice selected SUN spotlights to illuminate the Lublin Metropolitan Railway Station project, which serves as the heart of the Integrated Transport Center—a communication hub in the capital of the Lublin Voivodeship (eastern Poland), integrating urban, regional, and national transport.
The project is distinguished by the extraordinary and striking perforated pillars that support a decorative canopy, subtly illuminated by eighty SUN spotlights, seamlessly blending with the structure.
The client, the city of Lublin, aimed to revitalize and regenerate the area near the Główny Railway Station—Lublin Central Railway Station—a 19th-century building. The site was formerly occupied by a secondary bus station, a 1970s building characterized by a steel skeleton structure with beams and masonry walls.
Tremend deliberately designed a modernist structure in contrast to the railway station, yet succeeded in creating harmony between the two buildings by introducing sustainable solutions to reduce carbon emissions. For this purpose, natural colors and materials such as wood, stone, concrete, and stainless steel were used. SUN by Platek aligns with this vision, as it is a highly resistant and durable product made from aluminum alloy, far exceeding market standards.
This is how the project developed by Tremend Studio for the 2019 competition was described: “The new station will be a welcoming space for residents and environmentally friendly. In this regard, the rooftop garden, where people can take a walk, and the green wall of one of the cubicles will create a green zone that connects the station with Park Ludowy. An anti-smog cube will be placed around the building, and the area will be planted with species that are particularly beneficial for oxygen production. In addition to urban and regional bus stops, the project also includes an underground parking lot, taxi stands, bicycle racks, and electric vehicle chargers. From a chaotic parking lot, Plac Dworcowy will be transformed into a pleasant promenade, visually and functionally connected to the railway station.”
