Our vision of nature often reflects the human perspective from which we observe it. We have tried to adapt it to our needs, distancing ourselves from its rhythms and attempting to change them. However, its purpose has never been to serve humankind. Nature is complete, already perfect in its existence.
The most beautiful thing is that humans can make and recognise this remarkable beauty and assimilate it with sensitivity, adapting to, rather than bending it. Light and design must be a gentle caress in this wonderful and fragile balance.
Once more the inspiring thought of Jan Van Lierde's design joins forces with the know-how of Platek lighting, giving rise to Nessun Dorma. We have given three souls to this approach: different combinations of form, essence and sensory stimulation, which define spaces we encounter and our experience of them.
We called them INTRIGUE, PURIFY and F.O.R.M.
Jan Van Lierde is a Belgian designer, entrepreneur and architect, one of the most important exponents of contemporary lighting design. After graduating from the Gand School of Architecture in 1978, he opened his own firm and founded the lighting technology company Kreon. In the 90s Van Lierde also brought design projects to life for other top brands, including Artemide. His success comes down to his ability to manage an element that is both vacuous and powerful at the same time, adapting it to the needs of clients and companies, in an age of rapid innovation. The complete artistic vision of Jan Van Lierde, his attention to detail and his awareness of the social and technological impact of light, have taken his work to a whole new level of meaning, driving and elevating design and architecture to new heights, and laying the foundations for a humanistic understanding of lighting design in the twenty-first century.
Platek decided it did not want to improve something that is already perfect. This is why we have developed a project of people for people, in which light becomes a social, artistic and emotional medium of landscape architecture. We translated the vision of Jan Van Lierde in a series of products characterised by exceptional design and technical characteristics.
Nessun Dorma is our celebration, our ode to an approach that enhances and fills man-made spaces with unique experiences, by discretely inhabiting different contexts and interiors.
It is Platek's invitation to explore all possible realities through light and design, with lighting that respects and treasures the harmony of nature.
