Light at the service of conviviality

This private residence in Melbourne was designed to reflect the love for the outdoor space of the family who lives in it. "The shape of the house itself circumscribes a multitude of outdoor garden spaces that includes a swimming pool, tennis court, olympic trampoline, various lawns and an area dedicated to the production of home-grown fruit and vegetables. Each of the areas were required to be fully functional at dusk, and after dark, so the lighting of the outdoor spaces played a critical role in both the functional and aesthetic success of the project." O’Connor and Houle.

All Platek products selected for this project are characterized by a discrete presence in the landscape and can provide light efficiency, avoiding over-lighting. Micro full inox was chosen to light the lush foliage and the pergola, providing a warm wash. Its reduced size allows the product to disappear completely when switched off and provides an ideal lighting after the sunset.

Nano floodlight proved to be the ideal lighting for the individual trees and the architectural structure. The floodlights with 38° beam were installed to light the foliage from the ground up, while Nano floodlight with a 14° beam was chosen to light up the wooden beams of the pergola.

Lastly Nano XXL floodlights were installed along the façade of the building and to light up the vegetable garden. The final result is an outdoor area which combines all the aspects of a functional garden, allowing relax and entertainment at the same time.
